"Yemen is one of 16 previously polio-free countries that have reported new cases since 2003, after a vaccine boycott in Nigeria was blamed for causing an outbreak that spread the disease to other countries. Hard-line Islamic clerics in northern Nigeria led the immunization boycott, claiming the polio vaccine was part of a U.S.-led plot to render Nigeria's Muslims infertile or infect them with AIDS. The corrupt and oppressive terrorist political/religious/military leaders need to be overthrown by their own subjects--and would be if more stories like this one were told and believed.
Everything our troops are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan--at the cost of 1624 soldiers--is based on the premise that this is possible with our help.
The Iraqi and Afghan elections as well as events in Lebanon and Central Asia show there is progress.
