THE HIDDEN AGENDA OF "MINI-AXE" MAX BLUMENTHAL

In an early flowering of the Orwellian doublethink – peace is war, freedom is slavery – that passes for honest discussion at Arianna’s infant and infantile Huffington Post, Max Blumenthal writes of the firing of Fairleigh Dickinson University professor Jacques Pluss for professing racist and Nazi views.

In an astonishing act of left-handed legerdemain, Blumenthal then cites a Moonbat Central blog entry of mine criticizing Pluss and his fellow academic socialists here and from it concludes that “David Horowitz has taken up his cause,” is “sanctioning the defense of a neo-Nazi,” and has joined the company of “insidious Nazi apologists.” Huh?

“Pluss’s behavior and views are morally repugnant,” I wrote (but Blumenthal somehow neglected to quote), “but equally so are those of Ward Churchill.” Churchill’s predominantly-leftwing colleagues at the University of Colorado refused to fire him for statements every bit as hate-filled as Pluss’s, apparently because their own views differed only in degree, not kind, from Churchill’s rabid left extremism. But their pretext for protecting Churchill was academic freedom, a shield the intellectual community did not extend to cover the equally-crazed, equally-vile views and statements of Pluss.

My comments (which included not a single word defending nor in favor of retaining Pluss) were about the hypocrisy and double-standards of the academic left, of which the firing of Pluss and retention of Churchill I referenced merely as two revealing examples. From the Pluss and Churchill cases, I wrote, “We learn that it’s not enough to be a socialist to remain a college professor; one must also be the right (i.e., left) flavor of socialist.”

“If only Pluss,” I wrote, “had remained the kind of socialist who preaches hatred and violence based on class – e.g., kill the Jews because they are rich, or because they were ‘little Eichmans’ serving capitalism who deserved to die in the World Trade Center on 9-11 – he would still have his job and be getting promotions and invitations to speak as a celebrity at other universities,” just like Ward Churchill.

Just as Hitler twisted the cross into a Swastika, Blumenthal attempted to twist my joint condemnation of Pluss and Churchill into a surreal, non-sequitor claim that two Jews, David Horowitz and Christopher Hitchens (whose mother was Jewish, making him a candidate for any future Hitler’s death camps), somehow support Nazi nutcakes. How left-twisted must Blumenthal’s mind be to concoct this Orwellian reversal of reality?

The good news for Blumenthal is that a mind as bent as his could always find work as Pyongyang Sally broadcasting propaganda to the West on short wave radio from North Korea. But why worry about money when Blumenthal already writes for the millionaires who own The Nation Magazine and is a “research fellow” in the Media Matters for America company of David Brock and their mutual paymaster billionaire George Soros?

Blumenthal is also the son of Clinton Administration hatchet man Sidney “Sid Vicious” Blumenthal and has his family’s agenda at work here. His father’s lies denying efforts to set up media smears against a woman to benefit President Clinton were exposed by Mr. Hitchens, who has been on the Blumenthal hit list ever since. According to Hitchens, he danced at the bar-mitzvah of old friend Sid’s son Max. But nowadays, for mad Max of the tyranny-Soros thunder dome, ideology and money apparently trump friendship, facts, integrity and truth.

Mr. Horowitz is a truth-teller, apostate from the socialist faith, and friend of Mr. Hitchens -- which in the Blumenthal value system of McCarthyite guilt by association and win-for-the-left-by-any-means is enough to make him a target for cheap and dishonest shots like the phony Nazi smear addressed here.

(David Horowitz’s desire to empower people with a way to learn about the hidden agendas and connections of the left, incidentally, is why he created DiscoverTheNetworks.org. DTN helps people to know the truth, and the truth can set them free from the deceitful propaganda of the left-dominated major media.)

Max Blumenthal learned his character assassin’s craft and deceptive sophistry at his father’s knee. In the spirit of the Austin Powers movies, where Dr. Evil calls his midget son “Mini-Me,” truth-in-advertising should prompt us all to call hatchet man Sidney’s small-minded son “Mini-Axe” Max.

Was Hitler a socialist? In an earlier, more honest era many college professors awakened Freshmen students by reading a speech that condemned capitalists and corporate greed and called for a redistribution of wealth and power to the workers. Fashionably-leftwing students would cheer – until told that this was one of Adolf Hitler’s speeches. (Professors today use the same socialist rhetoric, but now they quote the words of Fidel Castro or Che Guevara or some other Politically Correct leftist, and give such views unquestioning approval.)

Yes, Virginia, Hitler was a socialist whose rhetoric and Big Government ideology were largely indistinguishable from those of MoveOn.org, Media Matters and other George Soros-funded operations today. Every day the international left inches farther from Marx and closer to Hitler’s mode of eradicating capitalism via hyper-regulation, mandates and high taxation to bring about the de facto expropriation of all private property.

If pressed, Mini-Axe doubtless would also parrot the customary socialist evasion that another inconvenient murderer of millions, Josef Stalin, was not really a Marxist-socialist but was a “state capitalist.”

Regarding Mini-Axe's claim that National Socialists (the German namesake of Naziism) are no more "socialist" than French fries are French, Thomas Jefferson’s importation of this Gallic dish to America altered neither its nature nor origin. Likewise, Mini-Axe's denial that National Socialists are socialists changes nothing about the many disquieting similarities between Hitler’s Big Government ideology, hate rhetoric and fascist tactics and Max Blumenthal’s own.
