Soros Foundation Got $30 Million from Uncle Sam

With a personal net worth estimated at $7.5 billion and a foundation network that claims to disburse up to $400 million per year, leftwing billionaire George Soros is the last person you'd expect to find begging Uncle Sam for hand-outs. Yet, according to a report from Cybercast News Service (CNS) this morning, IRS filings show that Soros' Open Society Institute (OSI) received more than $30 million from the federal government during the years 1998 and 2000–2003.

Inasmuch as CNS found the paper trail incomplete, the full amount of OSI's taxpayer funding may actually turn out to be higher than $30 million. CNS correspondent Jeff Johnson writes:

"Cybercast News Service asked OSI to provide a detailed list of its funding from U.S. government agencies, the records from 1999 and 2004 and an explanation of how the money has been spent. The foundation did not reply to multiple requests for the information."
In recent weeks, the Open Society Institute has been exposed as a major player in the Pewgate scandal, in which a cabal of leftwing foundations spent some $140 million to defraud and manipulate Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court into approving the McCain-Feingold Act. (via FreeRepublic)

This really isn't surprising. Since most of all union members belong to a government workers union, and all union dues and political contributions are tax deductible, that means - you guessed it - the American people literally pay for the political activism of the party that wants to raise their taxes.

Who needs prison sodomy when we've got the Democratic Party?
