Pittsburgh Indymedia Asks: How Can the U.S. be Stopped in Iraq?
On Saturday night, April 9th, Pittsburgh Indymedia, which bills itself as "community-based, non-corporate, participatory media," held a meeting at the Thomas Merton Center in Garfield, Pennsylvania titled: "How can the U.S. be stopped?"
The description of the meeting reads:
How can the U.S. be stopped? Lessons from the Vietnam war Mass protests, GI refusals and a powerful "insurgent" movement - the same things that led to the end of the war in Vietnam are what can stop the U.S. slaughter in Iraq today. Come to a meeting of the ISO to discuss how the Vietnam war was ended, and the lessons for anti-war activists today. The only U.S.-led "slaughter" in Iraq involves the killing of terrorists and insurgents intent on destroying Iraq's fledgling democracy. This justifiable slaughter is minimal in comparison to the one directed at Iraqi civilians by groups like "Al Qaeda in Iraq."
The Pittsburgh IndyMedia people consider themselves peace activists. Yet by implying support for the terrorist insurgency, they actually support slaughter in Iraq.
