Everybody needs an exercise program. DTN provides such a wonderful cardio-vascular benefit for otherwise-sedentary leftists that they should be paying D.H. the same way they would pay a personal trainer.
Most of the critique of DH has been about the links. When you post comments the first thing they
talk about turns to the accademic bill of rights.
DTN is a resource for information
and fact checking. If you want to
prepare a post it is a good place to start.
The odd thing I've found about DTN is that it has backed up, if not wholly confirmed some of my suspicions about the left.

This may go some length in explaining why you're convinced Pat Buchanan is a leftist ; )

Pat Buchanan is just a nut, not a leftist. I don't think he even knows left from right any longer. A lost soul, to be sure.
Hitler and Stalin were both dictatorial collectivists and mass murderers. Whatever other minor things there might be to distinguish one from the other pale in significance.
Left vs. right is really not an adequate way to describe the political landscape, although the term "leftist" does carry a certain amount of definitional weight in these discussions.
Perhaps the better spectrum would have freedom advocates at one end and enemies of freedom at the other. Coming full circle, the current definition of "leftists" does indeed place that group in opposition to freedom and in support of oppression. Witness Jimmy Carter, Michael Moore and Oliver Stone (poster children for the new left) fawning over Fidel Castro. It's a sad spectacle, and one that certainly has old-line freedom-loving liberals spinning in their graves.
I consider Pat Buchanan a leftist because he is, views on abortion being irrelevant.
What is Pat Buchanan's sole disgreement with anti-globalization anarchists? He wears deodorant.
But that's beyond the purview of this thread. I believe Hitler should be in the DTN leftist database because he was a fanatical socialist.

Maybe I should have worded things differently. Poor old Pat might really be a leftist, in addition to being a rightist, a middlist, a goofist, an unpleasantist, and maybe even a Methodist (sorry - inside joke from my days as a Methodist myself). In other words, I really believe Buchanan has no clear idea where he is at any given moment. In recent years his thoughts have come loose from their moorings and drifted all over the political map, resulting in what appears to be a most confused individual. The only consistent thread in his public utterances seems to be an unpleasant attitude.
I certainly agree that placing Hitler on the right is about as incorrect as it can be. After all, the full name of his terrorist Nazi party was the National Socialist German Workers' Party.
Not to mention that the politics of those who without shame call themselves neo-Nazis and the politics of those who publicly idolize Hitler are also left-wing in nature.
