The Unholy Alliance Strikes Again
In his book Unholy Alliance, David Horowitz explores the strange symbiosis linking the Islamofascist "right" with the neo-Communist left. Two news items highlighted today at Little Green Footballs underscore the point.
In the first, titled, "Appeasement Weasels Want to Legalize Hamas," LGF's Charles Johnson notes that French and Spanish diplomats are pushing to remove Hamas from the European Union's list of terror organizations – provided of course that they promise not to commit any more terrorist acts. Why on earth would France and Spain wish to legalize Hamas? According to Ynetnews (via LGF), the French and Spanish are trying to convince Europe's rulers in Brussels that, "it is unwise to boycott a movement with such a dominant presence on the Palestinian street."
Says Johnson, "That last part is true. It is unwise to boycott Hamas. The wise way to deal with groups like Hamas is to wipe them off the face of the earth."
On the other end of the Unholy Alliance, we learn that Giuliana Sgrena – the Italian hostage shot and wounded by U.S. troops after she escaped from her mujahideen captors – now claims, without evidence, that U.S. troops deliberately targeted her for assassination, as a reprisal against Italy's policy of parleying with insurgent kidnappers in Iraq. LGF notes:
"She doesn’t have any explanation for the fact that she is still alive — because if the soldiers at that checkpoint had really been trying to kill her and her companions, there would be nothing left of her car. Or her.Why then would Sgrena make such a charge? Well, it turns out that Sgrena and her equally outspoken, anti-American partner Pierre Scolari are both reporters for a hardcore Marxist-Leninist rag called Il Manifesto – a fact which CNN and other Big Media news organizations have failed to report. "Mainstream media is beyond disgusting on this one. They are doing everything possible to indict our troops based on the words of dissembling anti-war Italian communists," says LGF.

Even a Leftist, Liberal, Progressive, Communist, Cheese-Eating Surrender Monkey should know to actually STOP at a military checkpoint.
To say that they were targeted because America doesn't want to negotiate releases with terrorists is a ridiculous statement.
Personally, I'd rather wait for the results of the investigation before assuming anything either way.
There was a time I'd have thought ludicrous claims that prisoners in the charge of American troops were sexually molested or killed during interrogation too, but now, I don't make any assumptions about the conduct of men and women living in a war zone.
