The Left and the Islamofascists have a New Role Model

The weblogs of the Axis of Evil, the Left and its Islamofascist allies, have a new cause: defending a reporter with connections to al-Qaeda who was arrested two months back in Spain, under suspicion of involvement in terrorist activity. He was at first released and then re-arrested. Al-Qaeda, of course, is the group of terrorists who carried out the Madrid bombing on March 11, 2004 in which more than 200 were killed. The hero du jour of the Axis is journalist Taysir Aluny of the Arabic Al Jazeera television network. He is a Syrian national who lived in Grenada.

Leftist moonbats and anarchists have proclaimed the jailed terrorist to be a victim of blind American rage at all Arabs, as have the Islamofascist bloggers. The Indymedia weblogs are all cheering him on, taking time out from celebrating Ward Churchill. A leftist Spanish nongovernmental organization, the Francisco Mateos foundation, awarded Aluny a peace prize. The foundation, which is dedicated to international cooperation and social work within Spain, said in the statement, "You are not only innocent, you are a good professional, a hero and an example to be followed." His groupies have set up a pro-terror home page for him. Souheila Al-Jadda , a pro-terror reporter operating out of San Jose, California, and appearing on linktv, has been promoting the Aluny cause.

Al-Jazeera has consistently stood by its reporter since his arrest and has accused the United States and Israel of inciting Spain to incriminate him. Yemeni President Ali Abd Allah Salih has called on Spain to release him. The Syrian and Jordanian Union of Journalists condemned the arrest. Some "Social Democrats" in Spain joined the denunciation of their country for arresting the terrorist.

Even a group of leftists and Arabs in Israel took to the streets to show their support for al-Qaeda terrorism. A pro-terror weblog calling itself al-qaeda.blogspot.com now operates in Spanish.
