The French Socialist Neo-Cons come out Fighting!
Allow us to introduce you to Arnaud Montebourg , a socialist lawyer who sits in the French parliament from Saône-et-Loire . The good comrade is suddenly leading the assault against those who speak unkindly of French "neocons".
Comrade Montebourg says he is taking legal proceedings against the Europe minister, Denis MacShane, for calling French opponents of the EU constitution "neo-cons". Montebourg had a cow when MacShane urged people not to listen to "the reactionaries, the neo-conservatives, the neo-communists and les néo-cons who are trying to persuade you that voting no to the treaty is a good thing". It seems the word "con" in French is a popular if vulgar French insult translating as "a damn fool; a bloody idiot; a cretin".
Mr MacShane said he was "truly astonished" and had not intended to cause offence:
"In Britain we have a very robust tradition of parliamentary debate. Compared with the insults heaped on my head by anti-Europeans in Britain, my remarks ... pale into insignificance."
Montebourg pointed out that, "the offence of public abuse proffered on French territory is punishable by the law of July 29 1881 on slander and libel".

The ironic thing in all this is that Montebourg likely took the slur "les néo-cons" to mean a "Zionist."
The word "con" in French means a woman's vagina (similar to the four-letter word in English) It is a popular punning word in French to either make a joke or insult someone.
Why would a socialist criticize a neocon? It makes no sense. They're brothers.
