The Daily Kos, Deception and the First Amendment
The cockeyed views of the aptly self-described "Kossacks" of the left blog DailyKos.com are often Orwellian and sometimes downright Kafka-esque.
Last Sunday, for example, its blogger Armando observed that the Federal Election Commission might soon try "to regulate Internet political activity," but that the FEC Commissioners "eager" to do so were not its Democrat but its Republican members.
Does Armando think we've forgotten that it was Kossack-like leftists in the Democratic Party, their accomplices in the press, and the sole "bi-partisan" figleaf of eccentric Arizona Republican Senator John McCain who fought a long propaganda war against the Bill of Rights to impose the new Campaign Finance Law that has opened this door to partisan government restriction of political speech?
U.S. Supreme Court Justices upheld this Orwellian law, despite its flat-out contradiction of press and speech freedoms in the First Amendment. And now a judge has directed the FEC to rule on how, when and where any website's support for a candidate crosses the line from speech and becomes the equivalent of a financial donation.
Does Armando think we've forgotten that the Democratic Party and its left allies -- including DailyKos founder Markos Moulitsas, an associate of current DNC chair Howard Dean -- schemed from the outset to use this new Campaign Finance Law to gag conservatives and Republicans while wealthy Democrat allies such as billionaire George Soros used pre-prepared 527 entities (with the connivance of Democratic FEC Commissioners) to circumvent the law's restrictions.
These leftists are the ones now putting the First Amendment and Internet freedom of speech in peril. How stupid or forgetful do they think we are?
In the Temple of Democracy, the First Amendment is a sacred document brilliantly crafted by our nation's Founders. The First Amendment was designed to protect every citizen's search for and communication about truth -- in religion, free speech and the press, all framed together.
The kind of people drawn to government, especially Kossack socialists, tend to be junkies who crave the transfer of ever more power from the People to the Government....and envision themselves as the ruling class that will use this power to impose their whims on the rest of us.
This is why Thomas Jefferson recognized the need for perpetual revolution against the Hitlers and Hillary Clintons, the Stalins and Moulitsases, and their megalomaniacal lust for government power.
Government has already eroded freedom of religion, with politicians and the Internal Revenue Service arrogating onto themselves the power to decide which faiths receive tax exemption and which do not. As Justice Marshall observed almost two centuries ago, the power to tax involves the power to kill.
(Yes, Jefferson wanted separation of Church and State -- but, as today's socialists conveniently seldom mention, Jefferson also wanted the State kept very, very, very small.)
Government in the same manner is now arrogating onto itself the power to decide who is a journalist and hence has some degree of exemption from the arbitrary strictures of the Campaign Finance Law. This is tantamount to government licensing journalists. It gives new meaning to the old expression: freedom is not licence.
As Jacob Weisberg of the Washington Post-owned left webzine Slate rightly wrote on Wednesday: "...anyone who thinks he's a journalist is a journalist....journalism has never been simply a trade or a profession. In a democracy like ours, it's a basic right."
Instead of continuing its brain-dead propaganda to regain political power for the left by hook or crook, the Daily Kos should join hands with Moonbat Central and other libertarians across the spectrum in demanding repeal the current Campaign Finance Law.
This poisoned law makes the continued erosion of free speech inevitable. So long as those junkies who gain government power can use this law to stifle the speech of their opponents, the future of freedom for all of us across the political spectrum is in mortal peril.
Those who sacrifice the First Amendment to the left's Politically Correct idols on the altar of expediency may gain brief political advantage -- but by destroying the free speech rights of opponents, leftists will soon find their own tongues cut out with the same Kossack saber.

If the FEC rules that my blog entries are financial contributions, you can bet your farm I'll claim the established value of them as tax deductions.
Even better, I'll file myself as a candidate for President in 2008, and sue the FEC for not giving me federal matching funds.
