I also learned from my discussions in Colorado that the university is already down 1,000 enrollments because of the Churchill mess. Forty percent of these enrollments are from out-of-state students who pay $30,000 per year tuition. Bottom line: The university has already lost between $12 million and $15 million because of the Churchill fiasco.

If you urinate into the wind will it not blow back on you? So it is with Ward Churchill! He will ultimately smell so bad from all the blow back that he will be shunned and ostracized. No need to fire him, he just needs to be ignored and that will torture him more than being fired. Firing him will only make him more of a cause celeb and give him martyrdom status on the left wing lunacy circuit. Let the people ruin Reich Chancellor Churchill not the state.
Good to see the university as a whole will suffer economically because of this. It's not enough simply to expose Ward Churchill. Someone hired him, someone granted him tenure (while overlooking academic fraud, plagiariam, misrepresentation, and his lunatic mind), and someone promoted him to chair an entire department. There are serious, deep problems at the University of Colorado. Also, unfortunately, whatever instutitions those students choose over the University of Colorado will likely have Ward Churchill types in some of the classrooms as well.

I think it's the kind of nonsense Horowtiz spouted in the sixties and continues to do so from the other side. His vision of anyone who disagrees with him is absolutist and always imagines that they are like hin, totalitarian in nature and to be battled by any means necessarily including lies.
These are the methods he embraced when young and unlike the majority who take part in that weird, wild time his activity was not brief and partial, he is exactly the sort who drove most away from the left. When that opportunity for power and ego games declined he flipped right.
Never any serious doubt about his motives or character. He was "innocent," he didn't know better, poor babe he was fooled by all those bad, bad kids who misled him.
His morality has not changed. He was and remains a liar. There are many honorable people on the right, why do you chose him as your great leader? I'll tell you why because he let's you indulge in your most foul emotions without shame.

Enrollment or applications?
A 1,000 decrease in enrollment is HUGE, even for a monstrous university like CU.
Rahiim, maybe if you had taken the time to correctly read the correct message that I wrote you wouldn't look like a major moonbat on Moonbat Central.
It is great to see the free market and free press functioning as they were intended: to dole out rewards and punishments in-line with consensus opinions. One can only hope that the drop in enrollment at CU lasts long enough to exact some serious pain on administrators. One must further hope that the department that hired and promoted Churchill will be the first to be hit in any budget cuts, but in reailty the Engineering department will probably get the axe first (after all, they teach people actual *job* skills).
It's a public school, so the real hit would be to the taxpayers. If you want to make the guy suffer, have a bunch of neo-con high school graduates enroll and sign up for his class. Then he can listen to this sort of drivel 24/7. Plus we might have some educated neo-cons. On second thought, go ahead and boycott education altogether.

You are correct that it will be the taxpayers who will get soaked - my mistake. However, this will eventually bring pressure to bear on the university. As for encouraging non-marxists to enroll in Churchill's classes, I doubt that they would want to do that much damage to their GPA's.
FYI, I am not a neo-con, rather libertarian with some mildly progressive leanings and a solid record of voting for Democrats (who do less damage in office, IMO). My primary interest is in seeing Universities become a place of open debate once again, where Marxism is not taught as unquestionable Gospel. This interest stems from my own experiences with a few college professors who were determined use English classes as satellites of the white-male-scapegoating Women's Studies department.
Do I want to see these departments close? No - tenured professors have a right to free speech. Free speech means nothing if it does not apply to speech that you find offensive, after all.
However, I do think that it is a good thing for the taxpayers to become aware of the idiots on their payroll, and I do want to see the bill based on the Acedemic Bill of Rights pass the Colorado legislature. This would not abolish acedemic freedom, but would ensure that English classes consisted of the study of a broad cross-section of English literature (of my three English classes, each one consisted entirely of the writings of women of color, which is hardly balanced).
I think that the hate-filled one-sidedness of our public universities is a fantastic recruiting tool for Republicans, who benefit from the alienation that any white male with an insufficient sense of inherited guilt experiences. As someone who disagrees with the Republicans on several issues, including the inheritance tax, I don't want to see far-left idiots drive more people in their direction with violent Marxist rhetoric.

It's still necessary to keep the pressure on CU to terminate Churchill. Go to pirateballerina.com for an overview on Churchill's entire history of deceit, fraud, and terrorism.
A little Googling indicates that CU-Boulder is phasing in a plan that reduces the number of freshman enrollments.
According to the article, "Overall enrollment for Fall 2004 was slightly higher than in 2003, and freshman numbers are down as planned...a decrease of 443 or 8 percent from last fall's total of 5,571."
Perhaps Ward has nothing to do with the drop in enrollment.
I certainly would think the rape scandal of the female place kicker would have more of an impact on enrollment than Ward Churchill, but maybe not.
Horowitz should cite proof that Ward is the reason for this 1000 student decline in enrollment.
