Frank Rich: Voice of the Christian-Hating Left

Frank Rich’s column in the Sunday New York Times contained this gem:

“They [conservatives] couldn’t credibly complain that ‘The Passion of the Christ’ was snubbed by the movie industry’s ‘elite’ (translation: Jews), since it nailed three nominations, including one for makeup (translation: really big noses).”

This is Rich’s paranoid fantasy world: conservatives = the Christian Right = anti-Semitic nazis. In the real world, the Christian Right is the most reliable defender of Jews, particularly where Jews are threatened by a second Holocaust, in Israel. It is leftists like Frank Rich who are apologists for the Palestinian crusade to obliterate the state of Israel. It is leftists like Rich who did their best to save the greatest enemy of the Jews, Saddam Hussein, from his just desserts.

As for The Passion of the Christ, yes there are bad Jews in it, but there are good Jews too: like Jesus, for instance, and like Simon the Cyrene who shoulders Jesus’ cross on the road to Golgotha. Rich’s canard that the film claims that Jews are responsible for the death of Christ is repudiated by Jesus himself who says that his death is foreordained and therefore no one is responsible. Rich wrote three entire columns attacking the film as Christian anti-Semitism before he even saw it, a testament to his own passion, which is hatred for everything he is not.

Is Frank Rich related to Stanley Robert Rich, a former college roomate & associate spy with Morton Sobell, the Third Man with the Rosenbergs. The elder Rich, born same time as Sobell (April 1917), roomed with him while at CCNY, co-invented sonar in 1947 then passed the info to Sobell who transmitted it to the Soviets. Rich later recanted and testified against Sobell, whom I have tried to get to open up about the case, but he steadfastly maintains he was just "working for world peace." He's a neighbor of my mother's.

I cannot understand how anyone can find The Passion anti-Semitic. Yes, the Jewish heirarchy is largely responsible for Jesus' crucifixion, but in truth, they are only doing what they understand to be right. The Romans scourgers on the other hand are downright evil.
Burn down a synagogue? No, when I left the movie, I only passingly thought about torching an Italian restaurant ... Tony, Naselle, Wa
